Each year, over 75 million yards of suture thread are produced in our Ashaway, Rhode Island, facility. The same stringent quality control system that is required by the United States Food and Drug Administration for suture production is used in all Ashaway production. Ashaway suture thread production ranges from 25-micron nylon monofilament for delicate neurosurgery to siliconized, braided polyester for critical open-heart surgery.
Ashaway also produces braided polyester harness twine for the textile industry, braided nylon cores for fly fishing lines, braided nylon and polyester cords for window sash balancers, and many other custom-braided lines for a variety of applications.
